Having erection problems during sex. People say seek a psychologist?

Sometimes during sex, I may lose erection and once it's lost, it's hard to get it back because the depression kicks in from it happening in the first place. Doctors suggest its psychological and refer me to a psychologist. But in my opinion, I don't think just talking about it is going to solve my problem, just a waste of money. What is so beneficial with seeing a psychologist about erection problems? Can you someone elaborate.
